On 2/19/26, a Texas Department of Public Safety - South Texas Region Trooper attempted to stop a white Mazda 3 on FM 1472 in Webb County. The driver fled, leading troopers on a high-speed pursuit. Troopers safely executed a PIT maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end. The driver, a 16-year-old, and passenger Juan Francisco Torres of Laredo were arrested and charged with five counts of smuggling of persons and evading arrest. As Troopers approached the residence, multiple illegal immigrants fled on foot. Our Brush Team members gave chase and successfully apprehended several individuals. The group of seven, from Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Honduras. Some were wearing colored wristbands, commonly used by cartels to indicate payment for smuggling facilitation.
