On Feb. 15, around 12:05 p.m., officers were called to a report of armed individuals attempting to break into the caller's home in the 800 block of W. Lombard Street. Upon arrival, police reported that an officer approached a Kia sedan occupied by several individuals. Officials said that the officer approached the Kia on foot and issued verbal commands for the vehicle to stop and for the occupants to exit. However, the Kia reversed once more, striking the officer and causing him to fall. In the process, the officer discharged his firearm at the vehicle. Shortly after, the officer saw a male appearing to be injured and then collapsing to the ground. The officer rendered aid and reassured him of his safety. Police said the male sustained injuries from being assaulted by several individuals before the officer arrived at the scene. Not long after, police located the Kia, which was unoccupied at the 100 block of S. Arlington Avenue, after it struck a parked vehicle. Detectives learned that the vehicle was reported stolen in the 600 block of E. Chase Street on Feb. 14 around noon.
