A person died in a Wednesday afternoon crash on the Indianapolis south side, police say. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of West Sumner Avenue and Harding Street. That’s in an area with industries and homes about a mile north of the I-465 interchange. Witness said the crash appears to have involved a motorcycle and a Cadillac Escalade SUV. The roads were closed in the area of the crash. AMA Pro Racing has announced that American Flat Track competitor Dan Bromley died this past weekend following an on-track incident. He was 30. Bromley, a native of Warrington, Pa., was competing at Saturday’s Lima Half-Mile in Lima, Ohio when the incident occurred. “AMA Pro Racing and the American Flat Track community extend our deepest condolences to Dan’s family, friends, teammates, fellow competitors, and all who knew him,” American Flat Track said in a statement. Bromley won the 2018 AFT Singles championship and the 2025 AFT AdventureTrackers championship. In April, Bromley was hired as the Assistant Track Racing Manager by the American Motorcycle Association. Residents in Guadalupe, Mexico, are protesting after being without power for several days. To raise awareness, the protestors used a rope and cars to block a busy street. A massive search is underway for a driver who fled the scene after striking and killing two women in a Newark crosswalk over the weekend. The crash occurred on Saturday, at approximately 11:00 p.m. when Newark Police responded to the intersection of Park Avenue and North 7th Street after receiving emergency reports that two pedestrians had been struck. A preliminary investigation revealed that the two women were walking inside the crosswalk when a vehicle slammed into them. Rather than stopping to render aid, the driver accelerated, continuing northbound on North 7th Street and fleeing the scene. Both pedestrians sustained severe injuries and were rushed by emergency personnel to University hospital. Despite medical efforts, both women succumbed to their injuries and were later pronounced deceased. Officials have identified the victims as 58-year-old Mariana Elizabeth Valverde Beltran of Elizabeth, and 61-year-old Maria Isabel DeLosAngeles Salgado Ayala of Newark. The incident remains an active, ongoing investigation led by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and local traffic units.
