OSAKA – Two men died and 16 others were injured on Oct 10 when floats overturned during annual festivals in Osaka prefecture. In Izumisano, a 51-year-old man was trapped beneath a float that overturned while he was riding it with other participants, police said. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, while seven others were injured. A driver crashed a truck into a convenience store in northwest Miami-Dade on Tuesday evening, sending one woman to the hospital and leaving customers rushing for help. The store is a Kwik Stop located at Northwest 7th Avenue and 111th Street. The injured woman remained hospitalized all night. Her condition remained unknown. Joseph Sandy, the woman's husband, was inside the store with his family when the truck came through. "All of a sudden I heard something like thunder. Like boom," Sandy said. Sandy said he does not know how seriously his wife was hurt. "I don't know how bad it is. She couldn't move," Sandy said. The store's owner, MD Hasan, said cleanup will take about a week and cost about $40,000. He said he hopes to reopen next week. WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Authorities have revealed a new look of a deadly bus crash in Central Florida that, they said, took the life a 10th grade girl and a driver. That bus was carrying 39 people — 37 students, the bus driver and the bus driver’s child — at the time of Monday morning’s crash along Lucerne Park Road, west of Jacaranda Avenue near the Brookhaven Village community in Winter Haven. At a news conference Tuesday morning, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office shared video from on board the bus, from the driver’s point of view, that captured the moment when, investigators said, an oncoming car driven by a nursing student crossed over into the path of the bus. “You can tell that she’s in her lane of travel, she is not speeding, she is under the speed limit, and that’s how horrible and how quick it really is,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. The students were on their way to a high school in Winter Haven when it was hit by a car, which caused it to flip over and crash into another vehicle, investigators said. The crash would send several people to the hospital and claim the lives of two people, including a 10th grade student. Another driver involved, immediately died on impact, authorities said. The bus driver was pinned behind the wheel, but she somehow made her way out to go back and help the students on board. Judd spoke about the bus driver’s heroic actions and provided another view with footage from inside the bus “Despite the fact she has some injuries — and we’re blessed that she’s not injured worse than she is with this head-on crash — she pulls herself out of being wedged in this crash, pinned in, and then immediately starts helping the students on the bus, all the while, she’s got her, I think, 9-year-old child on the bus with her,” said Judd. “So understand the dedication of this lady. Deputies with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office say two deputies were blocking a lane while a disabled vehicle was loaded onto a tow truck around 11:30 p.m. The driver reportedly slammed into the back of a patrol vehicle before continuing into a ditch. Video from the scene shows the vehicle coming within five feet of "seriously injuring or killing our deputy," per IRCSO. The driver, whose identity has not been released at this time, was taken to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Police are searching for a driver who fled after a vehicle struck a Middletown home early Friday, causing a gas leak and fire that destroyed the house. The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. on Roosevelt Boulevard. Middletown police body camera video captured an explosion at the scene. Assistant Chief Steve Ludwig said the vehicle hit the home, damaging a gas line and sparking the fire about 30 minutes later. The driver left before officers arrived, while a passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not immediately known. Three adults inside the home escaped safely Firefighters waited for Duke Energy to shut off gas and electric service before attacking the fire.
