Florida irt bike chase ends in arrest; teen faces felony charge

A 15-year-old faces a felony charge after leading deputies on a high-speed electric dirt bike chase through busy traffic in Naples.

“This young man’s reckless riding put countless pedestrians and motorists at risk,” said Sheriff Kevin Rambosk.

Deputies observed the teen speeding and performing stunts on a sidewalk near Golden Gate Parkway and 66th Street Southwest shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the 15-year-old fled, reaching speeds close to 70 mph.

The teen continued to evade deputies, weaving into traffic and jumping sidewalks along Golden Gate Parkway. Deputies ended the pursuit due to the dangerous conditions.

The teenager's bike got stuck in a ditch near Santa Barbara Boulevard and Recreation Lane, where deputies safely took him into custody.

He was transported to the Collier County jail and faces a charge of fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
