A man accused of a fatal shooting in Edinburg was arraigned on a murder charge Monday afternoon.
Freddy Mireles, 32, was issued a $2.5 million bond for the Sunday shooting that killed 26-year-old Julio Cesar Soto Jr.
Deputies responded to the shooting at the 4500 block of Fe Drive in rural Edinburg at 9:22 p.m. Sunday, where they found Soto inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the head.
Three witnesses at the scene provided their statements to authorities, stating that the Mireles and Soto were filmed singing together when the accused gunman opened fire.
According to the witness statements, Mireles left the scene of the shooting with an AR-style rifle and drove off in a red suspect vehicle.
Investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle and Mireles at his residence, where he was arrested without incident.
"We are still collecting additional information on this case. And again, we're asking the public if they have any information, to please contact our office," said Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra.
