California: hree people, including a Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy, were wounded during call responding to a person with a firearm, officials said Friday.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of Water Street for a report of a male armed with a hammer, machete and firearm at around 6:30 a.m.
Officials said deputies arrived at the scene and found a female victim who said she was shot by the suspect. Two deputies encountered the suspect and opened fire striking the male suspect, according to a release.
KCSO said a deputy suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to their hand during the shooting and was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. A spokesperson told 17 News the wound was likely a result
The female victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The unidentified suspect was also taken to a hospital for treatment and was arrested for attempted murder of a peace officer, officials said.
