I am not under that impression at all. The US govt is a warehouse of inefficiency, waste and cost overruns. But the DOGE approach to eliminating inefficiency and waste was/is short-sighted and reactionary. Thus the firing/rehiring of employees and the elimination/reinstatement of various programs.
Al Gore had a similar but intelligently run program called The National Partnership for Reinventing Government during the Clinton adminstration. It was active from '93 to '98. It worked in conjunction with the various agencies/departments to come up with a cooperative plan to make cuts and increase efficiency. More than 250,000 federal jobs were eliminated along with over 100 programs. Another 800 agencies were consolidated to reduce waste and inefficiency.
There's are right way to do a good thing and a wrong way to do a good thing. Trump too frequently engages in the latter and the result is a shitshow....
As for the DMV here in my little WI neck of the woods; I walk in, get my number and I'm back in my truck 10 minutes later.... Not the the DMV is an apples to apples comparison to the federal government anyway....»
