An investigation is underway into how a patient suffered serious burns while on escorted leave from a mental health unit.
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust confirmed a man from its Woodlands Unit, Ipswich, was involved in a "serious incident" at the Applegreen Petrol Station on Woodbridge Road East on Tuesday.
The trust said two members of staff from the facility were with him on supervised escorted leave at the time of the incident.
A spokesperson said the trust could not comment on the man's current condition.
The petrol station is a short distance from Ipswich Hospital, where the unit - which provides acute mental health care - is based.
