On March 27, a Caribbean Air and Marine Branch aircrew detected a homemade yola-type vessel with multiple people off the coast of Puerto Rico. With a coordinated surveillance and tracking, the crew coordinated with the US Coast Guard Cutter Thetis to successfully interdict the vessel about 51 nautical miles northwest of Desecheo Island. A preliminary count reported 53 migrants of mixed Dominican and Haitian nationalities apprehended.
