A man is in custody after police say he shot a woman outside the Wilson County Courthouse and then traded gunfire with police — an incident officials believe was in retaliation for a fatal shooting last month. Abdul Karim Mustafa, 21, of Wilson, faces four charges, including attempted first-degree murder and going armed to terror of the public after police said he approached a 19-year-old woman who was entering the courthouse and shot her several times before fleeing. San Antonio, TX - The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has released new video and 911 audio of a mental health disturbance call that ended with deputies shooting an armed man near the Alamo Ranch area. On June 23, deputies responded to the 8400 block of Knapp Rise for reports of a suspicious person who had also been seen trying to get into homes in the area. When deputies arrived, they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Danh Thanh Dinh on a front porch holding two large knives described as "miniature samurai swords." Authorities say Dinh was hiding behind a pillar before stepping out and walking toward deputies with the knives. Deputies repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapons, but say he continued advancing. "Hey brother..let us talk to you man....don't do that put the knives down.....put the knives down.....hey look put the knives down....stay back don't you come here with those knives," one deputy could be heard saying in the video. Orange County, Florida — On June 3, 2026, at about 1 p.m., deputies responded to the 8200 block of Tivoli Drive because a neighbor reported there was a woman, identified the woman as 59-year-old Rosalia Hodges, outside of a home, screaming. When deputies arrived, they knocked on the door of the residence, and Hodges came out holding a knife. Deputies retreated back toward the street and ordered her to drop the knife several times. She refused to drop the knife and shouted “I’ll kill you” as she continued to advance. Three deputies fired their service weapons, and Hodges was struck. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Los Angeles, California — On May 16, 2026, at around 1:45 a.m., Los Angeles Police Officers from the Hollenbeck Patrol Division responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Weapon in progress at a residence in the 3000 block Glenn Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers were met by a family member of the suspect outside of the suspect’s residence. While officers were conducting their investigation, the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Robert Velasquez, emerged from the residence with two knives and a grilling fork. The officers gave verbal commands to Velasquez to drop the weapons, but he did not comply. Velasquez threw one of the knives in the officers’ direction and while still armed with one knife and the grilling fork, an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred. Velasquez fell to the ground momentarily and began to get back up to his feet, still holding the knife and grilling fork resulting in a second Officer-Involved Shooting. Velasquez was struck by gunfire, collapsed onto the ground, but refused to submit to arrest. Velasquez sat up and began moving toward the front door of the residence resulting in the use of an intermediate force option. The intermediate force option was successful, and Velasquez was taken into custody. The officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived at scene and transported Velasquez to a local hospital for medical treatment. Two knives and a grilling fork were recovered at the scene and booked as evidence. Southampton, NY - Body camera footage related to the police-involved shooting of a Southampton man accused of stabbing his mother over 40 times on Mother’s Day was released. Steven Eastwood, 28, was fatally shot by Southampton Town Police on May 10 after officers responded to a 911 call from his mother, who reported he was intoxicated and acting violently inside their Northampton home. Officials previously said responding officers saw him in the house with the knife and attempted to de-escalate the situation. Body camera footage from multiple officers shows them yelling “drop the knife” several times while Eastwood is seen with what appears to be his mother's blood on his sweater, sleeves, and hands. “Got one at gunpoint, send more units,” an officer can be heard saying over the police radio. Body camera footage shows Eastwood briefly stepping out the front door with a knife in hand, pausing to stare outward before turning back inside. He is then seen moving into the room where his mother lies on the floor, where authorities allege he continued the attack as she can be heard intermittently moaning. According to the Attorney General’s Office, two officers fired their service weapons after Eastwood allegedly continued the attack on his mother. He is then seen falling to the ground next to her, where he was later pronounced dead. At a press conference following the shooting, officials said officers shot Eastwood to end his attack on her.
