The attempted murder suspect who was shot by a police officer earlier this month at a Thousand Oaks hospital attacked her and hurt himself with a broken piece of glass while hospitalized, the Simi Valley Police Department said in an update on Tuesday. Luis Ramirez-Macias, 46, of Simi Valley, was arrested on July 2 after officers were called to a Simi Valley home that morning for a call of a domestic dispute. Responding officers found Ramirez-Macias and his wife with stab wounds, then learned that the man attempted to kill his wife and harmed himself. Both Ramirez-Macias and his wife were hospitalized for their wounds, with the suspect transported to Los Robles Hospital. The Simi Valley Police Department said that while he was hospitalized, Ramirez-Macias grabbed a glass medication vial, broke it to use as an edged weapon and hurt himself with it. He then attacked Officer Carly Grice, who was supervising the suspect in the hospital, the department said. During the attack, Officer Grice shot Ramirez-Macias with her gun. The man was treated for his injuries and then held at the hospital for several days. After his release, he was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail. Police did not specify the extent of the officer’s injuries. The department said Grice joined the Simi Valley Police Department in 2021. It’s unclear what charges Ramirez-Macias faces or if he has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

PHILADELPHIA - Alhassane Barry, Philadelphia police officer who was killed Sunday in a double shooting outside an after-hours lounge while off-duty, was laid to rest on Monday. A memorial service for Barry, 29, was held Monday morning at the Fouta Islamic Center of Philadelphia on South 71st Street. Barry will be buried at the Friends South Western Burial Ground in Upper Darby, according to a funeral announcement. Barry, a two-year member of the Philadelphia Police Department, was killed in a double shooting outside an after-hours lounge on the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue. A second man, 35, was also struck and remains in critical condition. Surveillance video shows the moments before and after the shooting. You can see several groups of people standing on the sidewalk as a police car drives by 7244 Elmwood Avenue. Not even 20 seconds later, a fight appears to break out, then you can see people running and ducking for cover. After the shooting, the video shows an individual who law enforcement sources believe to be the shooter, in a mask, appearing to hold a gun, bend down to possibly pick something up and run away. Ten seconds later, police arrive.

FLINT, MI – Police have identified the two teenage boys killed in a shooting on Monday night in Flint. Mason Lee Pritt, 16, and Dwayne Thompson, Jr., 17, were the boys shot around 11:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at James P. Cole Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, Michigan State Police Spl/Lt. Kim Vetter confirmed with MLive-The Flint Journal. Pritt was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Thompson Jr. was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. A suspect has not been arrested at this point, but Flint Police Chief Terence Green said he’s confident detectives will soon make an arrest. The investigations are being led by the Flint Major Case Unit, a multi-agency task force comprised of Flint and Michigan State Police detectives that handles many of the city’s most serious violent crimes. “Together, detectives from each agency work together to investigate violent crime in the city of Flint,” Vetter wrote in a statement. “MCU has successfully identified and arrested multiple homicide suspects in 2026 and we remain dedicated to holding violent criminals accountable.” Green said a fight preceded the shooting. MSP officials have said someone shot into a crowd, striking the two boys. Police are using all available investigative technology, including Flock cameras and other surveillance tools, in the investigation. Green said the department is working on a plan to target the area of James P. Cole Boulevard and Stewart Street, which has been a problem area in the past for large gatherings. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 19-year-old is now in jail after opening fire in a clothing store, leaving a boy critically injured on Sunday afternoon. Ambrose Ramsey is charged with criminal attempt first-degree murder, employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Around 3:20 p.m., Memphis Police say they responded to an aggravated assault call involving a firearm being discharged at the Village Mart Clothes and Footwear store on South Bellevue Boulevard. Police say the suspect opened fire inside the store, where there were eleven customers present. A boy was found lying on the floor suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg. He was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. The suspect was described as wearing a black skullcap, black jeans, and a black hoodie sweatshirt. Police say he was captured on camera coming into the store and firing multiple rounds. During the investigation, police say an adult victim reported that he was the intended target inside the clothing store. The victim told police that they were in the store purchasing clothes when they looked over their shoulder and made eye contact with the suspect, who he knows. That is when the suspect is accused of pulling out a gun and began shooting at the victim. Officers say he was grazed in his right leg. Ramsey was developed as a suspect at that time and positively identified in a six-person photographic lineup as the person responsible for the shooting. In the video surveillance of the shooting, police say the suspect appeared to be firing a Glock-style semiautomatic pistol equipped with a machine gun conversion device, referred to as a Glock switch that causes the gun to fire multiple rounds rapidly in a fully automatic manner. Ramsey is currently being held in jail on a $250,000 bond. He is due in court on Thursday morning.

MEXICO CITY, Aug 4 - Mexican social media influencer Cesar Gastelum was shot and killed on Tuesday while livestreaming with friends outside a fast food restaurant in the northwestern city of Culiacan, local authorities said. Gastelum, who had nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok and was known for comedy videos, was streaming live outside a fast food restaurant when two people on a motorcycle, both wearing helmets, approached him and his friends. In a recording of the livestream, seen by Reuters, the driver of the motorcycle appeared to fire a gun directly at Gastelum. A security official in Sinaloa state confirmed Gastelum’s death and said a significant security operation was underway. The killing comes amid persistent violence in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa, which has been at the center of a conflict between rival organized crime factions competing for control.
