The shooting happened on the night of Feb. 26. Police had reported that Ofc. Oscar Torres-Molina pulled over a white car near Aloha Avenue and South Perkins in the Parkway Village neighborhood. The newly released footage shows the interaction between the officer and the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Danell Maxwell. In the video, Maxwell tells the officer that he has a gun. As both of them walked to the officer's squad car, the officer asked Maxwell if the VIN number on one of his car doors "always been scratched off like that." Moments later, the video shows Maxwell pulling out a gun and shooting Torres-Molina. The footage continues, showing Maxwell looking at the officer on the ground. MPD had previously reported that Torres-Molina was shot in the face. He was hospitalized for several days and released. Last week, police said the officer was still recovering. Maxwell was arrested Thursday at an apartment complex in Cordova. He was taken into custody with Tokeytha Owens, accused of hiding Maxwell inside her apartment.

No charges for Gastonia police officers who shot, killed man at convenience store

Security footage was released today after it was announced that the two Gastonia police officers who shot and killed a man at a convenience store in January won’t face any criminal charges. Before getting into the details, as someone who has spent a lot of time in Gastonia, NC, this is the most "Gastonia" gas station conversation I've ever heard (audio up) -very good body positioning by the cop to conceal his 4 o'clock draw and a solid draw and first shot on target time -the cop took at least two shots on the threat while the threat was at a 90 degree angle; good example of why the 12-18'' penetration standard is the standard. Also, at that angle the standard "torso" target get's a whole lot thinner and the accuracy demanded increases -after the man in red was shot and killed saving taxpayers millions of dollars, it was discovered that the "gun" he pulled was a replica and not real

DA releases footage of gangs shooting over 180 bullets in the middle of the streets in Brooklyn.

District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch held a press conference where Gonzalez talked about the violence and terror the gangs wreaked on the streets. Following a trial, Jeffrey Choy was found guilty of attempted murder of a police officer for the July 16, 2022, shooting. The officer, who was struck by a bullet fired from an arm’s length away, has since recovered from the injuries and is back on duty. Choy, 37, of Union City, faces life in prison. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled. District Attorney Jeff Rosen praised the jury for the conviction. He said: “This verdict reminds us that every time a law enforcement officer starts their shift, they are risking their lives to protect us and our families. I thank this officer and every officer who has made it their professional responsibility to put themselves between our community and extremely dangerous people.” The Mountain View officer was conducting a DUI enforcement shift downtown. Less than an hour after midnight, he stopped the driver of a Ford Explorer after seeing the vehicle run a stop sign near Villa and Hope streets and then drive through a four-way intersection. When the officer walked up to the driver’s side of the vehicle, the two exchanged greetings. Choy then raised a 9 mm handgun and fired twice. One bullet missed. The other bullet went through the officer’s arm and struck his bullet proof vest. After Choy drove away, he crashed his vehicle near Higdon Avenue and then fled on foot. After hiding in a laundry room for hours, he escaped the city. He was arrested the next day by authorities outside a Black Bear Diner in Fremont, where he was having brunch with his family. When he shot the officer, Choy was a felon who was prohibited from having any weapons. He was out on bail and had an active warrant for possessing a gun found during a March 2022 traffic stop.

JUSTIFIED! Around 3:30 p.m., Garland police responded to a multi-vehicle crash. The suspect, described only as a Hispanic man whose name has not yet been released, was driving a green car that collided with two other vehicles. All of the drivers involved pulled into a nearby gas station. At the gas station, the suspect attempted to carjack several vehicles by force. He checked door handles and briefly entered one car, but he was unable to drive it away. His attempts failed. He then crossed Dairy Road on foot and entered a convenience store parking lot. A white Chevrolet Impala sedan pulled in with a male driver, two adult women, and five children inside. The suspect immediately attempted to carjack the vehicle as the driver was exiting. A physical struggle broke out. During the altercation, the Impala driver pulled out a handgun and shot the suspect at least once. The suspect was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officers were called around noon on April 27 to the Taco Bell at Military Trail and 45th Street after reports of shots being fired inside the restaurant, according to the probable cause affidavit released on Tuesday. When police arrived, crime scene tape surrounded the building as multiple units responded to what investigators later described as a rapidly escalating confrontation. According to police, three women entered the restaurant and asked for a cup of water. Investigators said one of the women then filled the cup at a soda fountain, which led to a verbal argument with an employee, identified as 20-year-old D’Mari Jy’Quan Patterson. Cellphone video taken by a witness shows Patterson yelling at the women as tempers flared. Police said the sound of a firearm being racked can be heard on the video just before a shot rang out inside the dining area. One woman fell to the floor after being shot, while another suffered a graze wound, investigators said. A third woman ran out of the restaurant. Police allege Patterson followed her outside and fired another shot in her direction. That round missed but shattered a window near the entrance. Inside the restaurant, customers ran for safety, some initially unsure whether what they heard was gunfire. One witness later told police he realized what was happening only after seeing gunpowder residue and hearing a second shot, prompting him to flee the building. The three women drove themselves to JFK North Medical Center. Police said two were treated for minor injuries and released, while the third was not injured. After the shooting, Patterson called 911 and told dispatchers that a customer had jumped behind the counter. He admitted firing the gun and told officers he placed it in the management office before police arrived, according to an arrest affidavit. Investigators said Patterson claimed he believed the women were armed, though police reported no weapons were found. Surveillance video and witness statements did not support a claim of self-defense, police said, adding that the women appeared to be trying to leave when additional shots were fired.

Multiple people were shot outside an East Austin BBQ restaurant

AUSTIN, Texas - A suspect was arrested after police said multiple people were shot outside an East Austin BBQ restaurant on Sunday night.
