One 17-year-old was killed when he was shot in the head by friendly fire, and another 16-year-old, who had no affiliation, was walking to Starbucks after football practice and was hit by a stray bullet, and is now paralyzed. The Coney Island gangs, Fly Ooter Gang, aka FOG, and “Koney Sides” fought against central Brooklyn criminal groups, including Folk Nation, WOOO and Choo. 7 gunshot victims were reported as a result of these shootings. Gonzalez stated, “I think what’s troubling is how trigger-happy these young men appear to be.” Christopher Moore, 21, was leaving a court-mandated supervision meeting at the Center for Justice Innovation when he spotted a rival gang member and waited for everyone to exit the building and begin opening fire. NYPD officers walked toward the front door of a South Ozone Park home around 2:42 a.m. Then the house exploded while they were responding to a 911 call. Eight officers got thrown off their feet. Some slammed into the front gates. They got up and ran into the burning building anyway, pulling one resident out. Nypost reports that the suspect, Anroop Parasram, 50, had forced his way into the basement apartment near 130th Street and 109th Avenue carrying two garbage bags of canisters. Family members on the 911 call already smelled gas. He poured accelerant, lit it, and set off a five-alarm blast that collapsed the three-family home and spread to the house next door. Three orders of protection had been filed against him. Police officers shot a man with a 13-inch kitchen knife who confronted them after allegedly causing a raucous at a grocery store in Manhattan on Monday, according to officials. Surveillance video from inside the store shows a man in a blue sweatshirt banging on the window from outside, with a large knife in his hand. Store employees say they locked the door from the inside and called 911. Officers arrived within minutes, police said at an early-morning press conference. The knife-wielding man allegedly confronted them. Police officials say multiple verbal commands to drop the knife went ignored, and at one point, the man allegedly quickly advanced toward the officers with the knife extended outward. He got close to them, police officials say. One of the officers fired a gun. The man in the blue sweatshirt was hit. The 53-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he was undergoing surgery on Monday. He is expected to survive.
