First responders were on the scene of a crash involving a Nashville Fire Department engine in Old Hickory Thursday afternoon. The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the area of Old Hickory Boulevard and Fields Drive. A NFD spokesperson said the preliminary information indicates the firefighter driving the engine “experienced a medical episode” and lost control, hitting several telephone poles, parked cars and eventually a building. “He wasn’t swerving to miss any cars or anything,” nearby resident Jasmine Dotson, whose power went out because of the crash, told News 2. “It just randomly happened.” The firefighter was brought to a local hospital for evaluation.
