FLINT, MI – Police have identified the two teenage boys killed in a shooting on Monday night in Flint. Mason Lee Pritt, 16, and Dwayne Thompson, Jr., 17, were the boys shot around 11:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at James P. Cole Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, Michigan State Police Spl/Lt. Kim Vetter confirmed with MLive-The Flint Journal. Pritt was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Thompson Jr. was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. A suspect has not been arrested at this point, but Flint Police Chief Terence Green said he’s confident detectives will soon make an arrest. The investigations are being led by the Flint Major Case Unit, a multi-agency task force comprised of Flint and Michigan State Police detectives that handles many of the city’s most serious violent crimes. “Together, detectives from each agency work together to investigate violent crime in the city of Flint,” Vetter wrote in a statement. “MCU has successfully identified and arrested multiple homicide suspects in 2026 and we remain dedicated to holding violent criminals accountable.” Green said a fight preceded the shooting. MSP officials have said someone shot into a crowd, striking the two boys. Police are using all available investigative technology, including Flock cameras and other surveillance tools, in the investigation. Green said the department is working on a plan to target the area of James P. Cole Boulevard and Stewart Street, which has been a problem area in the past for large gatherings. Battle Creek, MI - A Battle Creek man may have to wait a big longer for his first date after city officials filed what they said was the first civil forfeiture lawsuit under the city's updated public nuisance ordinance. The City of Battle Creek announced Friday it is asking a court to forfeit a 2024 Ford Mustang after its driver, identified as Jaylone Porter, allegedly performed donuts in the parking lot of the West Columbia Avenue Meijer gas station, just feet from active fuel pumps. According to the city, the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on June 14 while a Battle Creek police officer was nearby. Police said Porter used the Mustang, which had been purchased only days earlier, to spin its tires and perform donuts in an apparent attempt to create content for social media. According to the city, Porter admitted what he was doing when officers approached him, telling police, "I just woke up and felt like spinning 'em." The city said he also told officers he "needed a flick for my gram" to boost a livestream and, after being arrested, exclaimed, "This is so cool! I'm locked up!" while estimating the arrest would bring him "at least 100 viewers." Officials said Porter later remarked that he was "not getting caught again" and suggested finding another location where he could continue spinning the vehicle. EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A confrontation between customers and staff at Carolina Lowcountry Kitchen in East Grand Rapids has sparked debate after a video of the incident was viewed more than a million times on TikTok. The video was posted by Jessica Peña and Ariana Dunavan, both 22 years old, who say they were asked to leave the restaurant more than a week ago after an issue involving alcohol service. According to the women, Jessica ordered an alcoholic drink and Ariana took a sip from it. They say the restaurant owner told them that wasn't allowed and Jessica was accused of using a fake ID. "We weren't in this restaurant for probably more than 15 minutes before we were kicked out, so we were confused about what we did," the women said. The pair say they apologized but were later asked to leave before receiving their food. A 12-year-old Michigan girl is dead and nobody can tell her family exactly why. Olivia Mae Marie Smith collapsed and died after an incident outside a friend’s house. On July 7th a 911 call was made around 9:21 p.m. and claimed Olivia ran face-first into a tree and was unconscious. Ring camera footage from the porch shows her sitting outside around 9:15 p.m. before walking off toward the trees. Six minutes later that call went out. She was rushed to the hospital and never made it home. Bay County Medical Examiner William Morrone has called the case “atypical” and a mystery. Full autopsy results are still weeks away. Olivia reportedly had a heart condition, but officials have not said whether it played any role. Her family has flat-out rejected the “ran into a tree” story, saying they know that is not what happened and that they have additional details they cannot release while the investigation is open. MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. - The 31-year-old man facing multiple charges after allegedly injuring two people in a shooting in Marquette before fleeing and crashing into a Negaunee gas station has been referred for a competency exam. Court documents show Trevor Restivo, 31, was referred for a competency exam in Marquette County District Court on June 18. His case has been disposed until then. Restivo faces 10 charges, including assault with intent to murder. Those charges stem from an incident on June 5 that began with an alleged shooting in Marquette and ended in Negaunee. Law enforcement says the Marquette Police Department responded that day to a call of a reported disturbance on Baraga Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 33-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds inside the apartment. A second male victim, 68, was also located in the apartment with minor injuries. Police say before they arrived, Trevor Restivo fled the scene and drove to Negaunee, where Michigan State Police troopers began pursuing his vehicle. Damien and Jessica O’Brien were charged with murder, child abuse, and torture. They were also reportedly hoarders. Casper never went to school and only went to the doctor once.
