Huntsville, Missouri, July 21, 2026 — Bodycam footage recorded a wooden second-floor deck collapsing beneath a federal task force at the apartment of Jacob Alexander Munoz, 26. Four deputy U.S. marshals and five Randolph County sheriff’s deputies stood on the structure when it detached from the building and fell, sending all nine officers to the ground amid debris. Five team members were hospitalized with broken bones, torn muscles and concussions. None suffered life-threatening injuries. No firearms discharged during the fall. Other officers assisted those trapped in the wreckage. Munoz was not present. He later surrendered to authorities. The operation formed part of Operation Adam’s Watch, a multi-week effort targeting sex offenders who failed to register addresses. That morning the team held 30 such warrants, including one for Munoz. Munoz was convicted July 6, 2022, in Randolph County of possessing child pornography involving more than 20 images or one film/video, a second or subsequent offense. The offense occurred March 16, 2020, when he was 20; the victim was a female aged 9 to 13. In June 2021, at age 21 and living in Moberly, he was arrested on a related Randolph County warrant. A National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tip in October 2020 to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Task Force reported uploads of material depicting children ages 8 to 12. A search warrant in April 2021 recovered his electronic devices. He faced a second-degree child pornography charge with bond set at $50,000. He is a Tier 1 registered sex offender. Authorities said he had stopped reporting to his parole officer, prompting the warrant. Earlier searches of the apartment recovered numerous firearms. U.S. Marshal Steven Lewis of the Eastern District of Missouri stated the length of collapsed decking made the limited injuries remarkable.
