CHICAGO (WLS) -- Multiple people were hurt after a van crashed into a Chicago liquor store on Thursday, a Chicago Fire Department spokesperson said. The crash happened at about 12:40 p.m. at L&J Liquor at 260 N Pulaski Road, Chicago police said. CPD said a 54-year-old man was driving the van eastbound on Lake Street when he crashed into a Toyota sedan. The van then crashed into the business, police said. Police said three people inside the business were hurt in the crash,: two men aged 63 and 69, a 44-year-old woman. All were expected to be OK. The 54-year-old male driver was taken to Mt. Sinai in good condition. O’Fallon, IL - The Illinois State Police has released bodycam and dashcam footage of an O’Fallon police officer shooting and killing a knife-wielding man. The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2025, in the 600 block of West Madison Street. O’Fallon police were responding to a disturbance call for a man armed with a knife. When officers pulled up, they saw two people outside the home. They were covered with blood and running away from a man armed with a knife, later identified as Matthew Blanke. An officer exited his police vehicle, pulled out his service weapon, and twice yelled at Blanke to drop his knife. Blanke, who was now walking toward the officer, did not drop the knife. The officer fired seven shots at Blanke in approximately two seconds. Blanke collapsed onto the front lawn. Additional officers arrived to help administer first aid to Blanke, but he was ultimately pronounced dead. Blanke was 53. The two victims were taken to the hospital and treated for cuts and stab wounds. Their injuries were not life-threatening. The officer who shot Blanke was not injured. Police responded to reports of multiple fights involving a large group of juveniles at Louis Joliet Mall on Saturday evening. Officers were called to the mall at 3340 Mall Loop Drive about 5:51 p.m. after receiving reports that approximately 50 juveniles were causing a disturbance inside the shopping center, police said. By the time officers arrived, many of the juveniles had fled the mall and surrounding area. Two male juveniles were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and later released to a parent, police said.
