An attempted "armed holdup" at an Orland Park gas station on Tuesday ended with the alleged robber being shot by the customer police say he was trying to steal from. Orland Park police said officers responded around 9 a.m. to Harlem Avenue and 151st Street. Security video shows a masked person walking up to a customer who was pumping gas at the family-owned station. Naseem Elmosa, whose family owns the business, said the person appeared to be armed. "He was masked. It was clear on plain view sight that this person, he was armed, of course," Elmosa said. According to Elmosa, surveillance footage from one of the station's many security cameras show the masked person calmly approaching the customer before pulling out what appeared to be a handgun. Within seconds, the customer reached behind his back, pulled a gun from his waistband, and fired at least two shots. The footage appears to show the masked person dropping a weapon before running away. Orland Park police described the incident as an attempted armed holdup and confirmed that the customer who fired the gun is an Illinois Concealed-Carry License holder. "I would hope that he would just give up his keys, let him take his car, and the guy wouldn't have to use his weapon. Luckily, he had a weapon on him, and he wasn't afraid to take it out," Elmosa said. Police said the suspect was struck by gunfire. Authorities said the suspect was located a short time later and taken to a local hospital for treatment. The customer who fired the shots was not injured and is cooperating with investigators, police said. "It's just crazy to see here in Orland Park. It's just scary for everybody around here, especially having a family-owned business. Never came across this issue before," Elmosa said. Police have not identified either person involved and have not said whether charges are expected. Joliet, IL - The footage shows the Aug. 18 Super 8 motel parking lot arrest of 26-year-old Ingrid Acosta Villarraga, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio. On Aug. 20, Joliet Patch reported that the 26-year-old woman was booked into the Will County jail following a weeknight arrest by Joliet police on two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault, criminal trespass and resisting a peace officer. The Ohio woman had been kicked out of the Super 8 property near Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street, and when Joliet police officers responded to the scene around 7:35 p.m., they found several garbage bags of her possessions, along with a giant teddy bear, already placed near the sidewalk. By the end of the ordeal, it took several officers — perhaps around a dozen —to swarm the scene and help with the arrest or be ready on standby to ensure safety. "Psycho!" one Joliet police officer exclaimed. "I think she did bite me." The officer who said he was bitten by the woman was one of the first responders to the Super 8 on McDonough. The call for service came regarding a transient woman who had been banned from setting foot on the motel property but still there, refusing to leave again. "You need to stay off the property, or else you are going to get arrested," the officer informs her at 7:39 p.m. "You speak Spanish?" he inquires. "Only Spanish, I'm sorry," she tells him. Based on the body camera video, the woman had her smartphone set up to translate the English language into Spanish, although at times during her interaction, the officer tried speaking to her in Spanish, too. "You need to go over there! I keep telling you," the officer instructed her, pointing to her possessions that were put near the street curb. Moments later, Acosta Villarraga suddenly began crying uncontrollably. Then she ignored the officer and began briskly walking toward the Super 8 entrance. As the officer tried to stop her, she started screaming. "OK, we're done. She's trying to bite me," he told fellow officers over his dispatch radio. "Do not f****** bite me! Do not bite me!" In the footage, Joliet police took the woman to the pavement, where she appeared to continue struggling with them. Joliet Police Sgt. Brian Montello arrived on the scene to supervise and help direct the situation. Lyons, Illinois Township Clerk Elyse Hoffenberg shared a surveillance video that shows her being kissed by Bridgeview Mayor Steven Landek — an act she insists was a "lighthearted, friendly and non-romantic moment among colleagues." Hoffenberg is currently running for Cook County Commissioner. The kiss between the pair has been the subject of what she told the Daily Mail was an "extortion attempt" by "political opponents. Hoffenberg also told Patch the liplock was "inappropriate and unprofessional." The Illinois State Police (ISP) is releasing video of an officer involved shooting incident after being requested by the Peoria Police Department to conduct an investigation. On May 8, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Peoria Police Department (PPD) officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute near the intersection of Hamilton and Madison streets in Peoria. As an officer approached the suspect, the suspect, 41-year-old Cortez Lamarr White of St. Louis, MO, shot and killed the woman standing in front of him, 42-year-old Ashley N. Stenson of Lithonia, GA (formerly Peoria, IL). ​ As the PPD officer immediately moved to take White into custody, White ran and shots were fired. White was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Richard Stevenson, 45, was seen flying across the Fox River in Illinois in his 30-foot pontoon boat, expected to be traveling 80 MPH. Stevenson was seen by a security camera zooming down the river and, about an hour and a half later, seen flying by again in the other direction. Shortly after, the family that recorded his boat heard a massive crash. Stevenson entered a no-wake zone and flew into the back of a boat, causing his boat to jump on top of it, decapitating a woman and injuring her husband. 2 passengers on Stevenson's boat fled the scene but were later interviewed by police and said Stevenson, who blew a .20 BAC, had taken several Fireball shots that day. Police in the south suburbs are investigating a video of a man getting beaten by security with batons inside a lounge. The incident took place in Harvey IL. at the Lo1 Lounge near 147th & Halsted. A man was being put out the lounge, during the process, multiple security guards working there were seen striking him with batons.
