This dude breaks free from his cuff and jumps in the driver seat while the officer finds himself trying to be a back seat driver. ​A routine arrest took a dangerous turn on May 30, 2026, when a suspect managed to commandeer a Dallas Police Department patrol vehicle, leading to a swift pursuit and a dramatic highway crash. ​The incident, captured on multiple police fleet and body-worn cameras, began after 28-year-old Angel Castillo was placed under arrest and secured in the backseat of a police cruiser. While left temporarily unattended, Castillo managed to slip his handcuffs from behind his back to the front of his body. ​Body cam shows the exact moment Castillo utilized the gap in the center partition to squeeze his way into the front cabin of the squad car. ​An officer spotted the breach and immediately attempted to intervene, opening the driver-side door and demanding the suspect stop. Castillo, however, managed to lock the doors and put the vehicle into drive. Despite another officer opening a rear door and attempting to deploy a Taser to subduing him, Castillo accelerated away, forcing the officer to break contact. ​Castillo fled onto a nearby highway, but the unauthorized joyride was short-lived. Moments into the pursuit, Castillo lost control of the stolen cruiser and collided heavily with a flatbed tow truck parked on the shoulder of the highway. ​Both the officer and Castillo were transported to the hospital for treatment.
