At 1:51 a.m., McKuhen was stopped at the red light on Hoffner Avenue, a few miles north of Orlando International Airport. The video shows the emergency lights turn on as the police SUV enters the intersection with Semoran Boulevard, but then they turn off moments before impact. Shortly after Ortiz passed away, Smith avoided our camera at City Hall when WESH 2 Investigates wanted to find out if the officer was on duty during the accident. City Commissioner Tony Ortiz revealed the chief informed him that Officer McKuhen was on duty. BOSTON —A woman is dead and a man is in custody following a motor vehicle crash and subsequent carjacking in Boston, Massachusetts, on Saturday afternoon. Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, was charged with murder, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday. According to Boston police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car around 2 p.m. Witnesses told News Center 5 the woman was dragged, before the driver continued down the street. The pedestrian, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is not being released at this time. Investigators said a man, later identified as Matos, was involved in a car crash at Woodhaven and Blue Hill Avenue. He allegedly stole another vehicle near a car wash, according to witnesses, and drove south on Blue Hill Avenue. Workers at the wash allegedly also tried to stop the carjacker. Matos then struck the victim at Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue, according to police. Several vehicles, including an MBTA bus, were also damaged. Witnesses said a group of people grabbed the man out of the car, and held him down until police got there. “They were running in and calling the cops, someone hit a lady over there,” said Jay, who works at a convenience store next to where the woman was struck. “You ain’t going nowhere,” one witness said. Traffic in the area remained closed off to motorists and drivers until 9 p.m. on Saturday.
