A graphic video circulating on social media tonight is sparking sharp debate after it captured what appears to be a group of men beating a man to the ground near the intersection of Post Road and US-1 in Melbourne, outside a Veterans of Foreign Wars post. The video was posted by witness Johnny Woodring, who said he was passing through the area on a mini bike when members of the group stopped him and asked if he had seen a Black man running from the area. Woodring said no and continued on, then watched as the group got into a vehicle, drove down the road, and attacked a shirtless man walking in the area. Woodring says he began recording approximately 15 seconds into the beating. The attackers allegedly justified targeting the man based on dry blood visible on his legs. The victim denied any involvement and was heard screaming that he was innocent. But a commenter identifying herself as having knowledge of the original incident offered a different perspective, claiming a disabled 22-year-old man had been jumped outside the VFW earlier in the evening by homeless individuals who beat him, broke his glasses, stole his iPad and radio, and sent him to the hospital. She says the veterans came out looking for those responsible. If accurate, the man beaten on video may have been wrongly identified. Multiple people recorded the incident. Melbourne Police responded to the scene. It is not yet known whether any arrests were made. CCTV captured the moment a man became engulfed in flames during an arson attack on a convenience store in Thornton, New South Wales, on Tuesday, February 10. Authorities were called to the business on New England Highway at about 1:05 am following reports of a fire. The blaze was brought under control and extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters. While the building only sustained minimal damage, large amounts of stock were destroyed and a cash register was stolen. NSW Police released this surveillance footage as part of an appeal for information amid an investigation into the “suspicious” fire. Detectives would like to speak to the two men seen in the CCTV, who were dressed in dark clothing and donned balaclavas.
