Ernesto Rascón, an Arizona resident, went to see oral surgeon Amed de Jesús Preciado Hernández without an appointment and was refused service. Rascón then became frustrated, waited for Hernández to exit his office, and stalked him back to his car. Rascón then calmly walked to and opened fire into the windshield of Hernández’s car, killing him. The Criminal Investigation Ministerial Agency and Mexican security forces went to serve a warrant at a home where Rascón allegedly began shooting at the authorities. Rascón, who has a criminal history in the US, hit 2 officers, grazed one in the head, and wounded another in the left leg, was killed by authorities, and both officers have since recovered and been discharged.

Arizona State University senior Eryn Bonner was hit with two misdemeanor charges last week in Tempe after a harrowing video captured cops allegedly leaving her covered in bruises during an arrest in July, according to the Tempe Police Department and ABC15. Bonner, a member of the ASU Stunt team, was seen in the early morning of July 19, reapproaching officers who were arresting another individual after being told to get back. “Let him go, let him go,” Bonner could be heard screaming before the altercation unfolded. The college student was then pushed to the ground by a cop, the clip shows. Tempe police allege that Bonner punched an officer multiple times, the outlet reported. The clip, including bodycam footage from the arrest, shows the officer then toss her onto a bicycle and restrain her — appearing to punch her before another officer swoops in to cuff her. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has declined to pursue felony charges against Bonner, and cops told the outlet that they would not resubmit the felony charges. She faces two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and hindering or interfering with police, a Tempe Police Department spokesperson said.

Police said they received a call about a suicidal person in an alley behind some homes. The person was reportedly armed with a knife and appeared to be actively hurting himself. MESA, Ariz. - Mesa Police officials have released details surrounding an incident involving an alleged order of protection violation that ended with a crash and the suspect's subsequent arrest. In a statement issued on Aug. 27, police said the incident happened just before 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 24, when officers responded to the area of 54th Street and Arcadia Avenue for reports of an order of protection violation. "While conducting their investigation, officers confirmed the Order of Protection was valid, had been served earlier that day, and prohibited the suspect from being near the victim’s residence," investigators wrote. "The victim told officers the suspect had been at his residence, was intoxicated, and left in a white vehicle with his dog." Police say while an officer was speaking with the alleged victim, the suspect, who they identified as 50-year-old Regina Baswell, drove past the home. "Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect failed to stop," read a portion of the statement. Baswell, police say, later drove by the home a second time. "The suspect exited the vehicle holding a can of beer and was taken into custody," police wrote.

New video shows bystanders jumping into action to stop a suspect from trying to rob an elderly man at a Tucson fast food spot. On July 9, Tucson officers received reports about an attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant near Oracle and Prince roads. Investigators say a 34-year-old man followed a 70-year-old into the restaurant, attempting to steal his backpack. Surveillance video from the restaurant shows the suspect walking next to the elderly man and attempting to grab a backpack on his walker. The suspect tries to snatch the bag from the man’s arms, knocking him to the ground during the scuffle. Two men then ran toward the suspect, causing him to drop the backpack. Investigators say witnesses gave a description of the suspect and within minutes, officers found him and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on a charge of attempted robbery.
