FORT MOHAVE, Ariz. - A shocking encounter was caught on camera on July 16 when a Mohave Valley man was stunned with a Taser by an officer with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The incident ignited a fire right by the gas pump at Thalypo Convenience & Fireworks on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation. Cell phone video from Clarence Coyl’s point of view captures the tense standoff between him and an officer with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Coyl says he and his friend drove through an open gate approaching Catfish Paradise at the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. That’s when he noticed the officer. "He goes, ‘You guys came through the gate, didn’t you? Leave now. Get out of here.’ I’m like, ‘OK’ and he got really snotty, and he says, ‘Well, I’ll give you a ticket,’ and I say, ‘Give me a ticket, you gotta trespass me first,’" Coyl said. Coyl turned around and drove to the Thalypo gas station, which is located on Fort Mojave Indian Reservation land 20 minutes away. The officer also arrived there and confronted Coyl for his ID. When asked what was going through his mind when the flames burst, Coyl said, "I thought I was gonna die. Believe it or not, I went into instinct to stop, drop and roll." Coyl waited for paramedics and was later treated at the hospital. He says he was never arrested. "And I spend five and a half hours there, not a single officer or anything followed up to write a report, question me or nothing … nobody showed up at the hospital at all for any of this," Coyl said. Coyl says he has first and second-degree burns on his hands and severe nerve damage. But mentally, he feels that going to get gas is a traumatic experience. New video and audio show how a Glendale pawn shop worker may have saved a woman’s life by calling 911 after the woman silently asked for help in May. The employee told dispatchers a woman inside the Glendale pawn shop mouthed “call 911” after her boyfriend allegedly became aggressive. Police say the suspect, Darren Howard, was trying to get the woman to buy a gun before officers arrived. Bodycam video shows officers entering the shop and ordering Howard to let the woman go as the encounter escalated. Police say Howard took her hostage with a knife, and officers used a Taser before another officer opened fire. Phoenix, Arizona — On June 26, 2026, just after 11 p.m., Phoenix Police Officers were called to the area of 35th Avenue and Greenway Road for a domestic disturbance. The 911 caller stated that at least two people in the home were in an altercation, one of whom was armed with a knife and attempting to stab the other. When officers arrived, they approached the front of the home, where they began speaking with a woman. While talking with her, the suspect ran out from the front of the house holding a knife. He began chasing another man who had been standing in the home’s driveway. This is when the officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck by gunfire. The suspect dropped the knife and fell to the ground, at which point officers took him into custody and began providing first aid. Queen Creek, Arizona — On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, just before 2 p.m., Queen Creek Police Officers were notified of a man, later identified as Bradley. Family members reported receiving text messages from him and advised that he had access to multiple firearms and vehicles. Officers initially responded to Bradley’s residence to attempt contact and de-escalation. He was not located at his home; officers made contact with him via phone and confirmed he had a gun. He refused to share his location. Officers continued efforts to locate him while maintaining phone and text communication. Just after 3 p.m., officers located Bradley’s vehicle parked in the northwest portion of a church parking lot near Chandler Heights and 204th Street. Officers observed him while he remained in his vehicle. When Bradley exited his vehicle and attempted to enter the church building, officers determined it was necessary to make contact with him as he stated he had a gun and there were bystanders on the east side of the church. During the interaction, Bradley again confirmed he was carrying a gun. Officers issued multiple verbal commands instructing him not to move and not to reach for the weapon. He did not comply and made motions towards the gun in his waistband. A single-round, less-lethal option was deployed and was ineffective. He did not comply and continued moving in the direction of bystanders. This is when the officer involved shooting occurred. After discharging their weapons, officers observed him continue to move and appeared to reach for his gun again, failing to comply with officers’ commands. Officers discharged their weapons again. Due to the fact he was armed, a Taser was deployed to safely take him into custody, remove the gun from his waistband, and then provide life-saving efforts. Phoenix, Arizona — June 11, 2026: A man identified by Phoenix police as 56-year-old James Glenn was fatally shot by officers during an attempted arrest on the evening of June 11, 2026, near 23rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road in Phoenix. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. while officers were attempting to apprehend Glenn, who was wanted in connection with an investigation involving s*x crime against a child. Police said a K-9 officer used a vehicle interdiction device, commonly known as a Grappler, to stop Glenn's vehicle. Another police vehicle was then used to prevent the driver's door from opening. A woman was booked into jail on multiple felony charges after being released from the hospital following an April 30 officer-involved shooting inside a Scottsdale police station lobby. The suspect, 23-year-old Eva Josefina Garcia, allegedly pointed a handgun at a police aid and cornered a civilian before a sergeant shot her when she refused commands to drop the weapon. New videos show the split-second decision Phoenix police officers had to make when they opened fire on a man who pointed a gun at them in an alley near downtown two weeks ago. Police were looking for the man, who was wanted by Tolleson police because he reportedly pointed a gun at officers while they were trying to arrest him on felony warrants. Police said they found him around 10 a.m. on April 29 at a parking lot near Fifth Avenue and McDowell Road. He parked his car and walked into a nearby alley. Surveillance video showed the man walking near a cement wall and pointing a gun at a victim while officers were nearby. He pointed his handgun a second time. Body camera video showed a Phoenix officer getting out of his truck and, within five seconds, fired three times after the man raised his gun. A second body camera showed another officer firing his rifle after getting out of a van. “Hey! Hey, drop the gun! Drop it! Drop the gun,” the officer said after the shooting. Another officer used a 36 mm less-lethal baton launcher on the man because he was still holding onto the gun. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released. No police officers were hurt.
