The accident happened on the night of October 20, 2026, during the traditional Cabo San Lucas festivities. Videos recorded by people at the fair reportedly captured the terrifying moments when Gabriela fell from the ride while it was moving. Initial reports indicate that her shoulder-and-torso safety restraint appeared to rise, but investigators have not yet determined exactly what caused the accident. Emergency personnel rushed to help Gabriela, and she was transported by ambulance for medical treatment. Sadly, she later died from her injuries. Following the incident, authorities suspended the ride and ordered safety inspections of the other attractions at the festival. An investigation is underway to determine whether a mechanical failure, a problem with the restraint system, or another factor contributed to the tragedy. The incident has raised serious questions about amusement ride safety as Gabriela’s family, friends, and community mourn her loss.

Ready to ride the world’s longest, tallest, and fastest roller coaster?

Falcons Flight is 13,943.6 feet (4,250.0 m) long and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The coaster uses the natural cliffs to attain a peak elevation of 639.8 feet (195.0 m) and a drop of 525 feet (160 m), while the tallest freestanding hill is 535 feet (163 m) from ground level and features a 519-foot (158 m) drop. Rather than a traditional lift hill, to achieve its record-breaking speeds, Falcons Flight utilizes three linear synchronous motor (LSM) launches, each of which propels the train to sequentially higher speeds. The second launch ascending the cliffside will accelerate riders to just over 100 mph (160 km/h), while the final launch on the descent aids the train in achieving the maximum 155.3 mph (249.9 km/h) top speed.
