PEARLAND, Texas – Two men from Florida have been arrested after Pearland police investigated suspicious ATM activity and ultimately were led on a chase. The Pearland Police Department says it happened on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at approximately 6 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a bank in the 9900 block of Broadway Street after getting reports of suspicious activity in the ATM drive-thru. Officers were told that a masked man was making multiple transactions using several different cards and withdrawing large amounts of cash. As officers were responding, the suspect was seen getting into the passenger seat of white GMC Sierra, which then left the area. With the help of a drone, an officer found the truck in the parking lot of a business in the 2500 block of Smith Ranch Road. The passenger got out of the truck and began to walk away, but was detained by the officer. The driver, who was still inside the truck, took off. Other officers attempted to pull over the truck, but the suspect refused to stop. The suspect began throwing large amounts of cash out the window of the truck, which was caught on dash cam video. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 1600 block of Max Road. Officers took the suspect into custody without further incident. Officers recovered more than $6,000 in cash that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. The passenger was identified as Tarvares Givens, of Florida, and was arrested and charged with Failure to Identify. The driver was identified as Levon Steven Jr., of Florida, and was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest and Tampering with Evidence. The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident for additional fraud-related charges. DELTONA, Fla. — An 80-year-old former school worker is facing a child abuse charge after surveillance video allegedly showed her hitting a student in the head inside a cafeteria, according to the arrest report. Maria Graham resigned from her Volusia County Schools position before her arrest, district officials confirmed. According to the arrest report, surveillance video showed Graham hitting a child in the head with enough force to jolt the student forward. A judge released Graham on her own recognizance. “Based off of the agreement between the parties, I will release you on your own recognizance. I am going to order that you have no contact with the listed victim,” the judge said. The incident happened last Thursday at Deltona Lakes Elementary. According to the arrest report, Graham told deputies the child tried to skip the dinner line and was pushing other students. Graham said she intervened and told the child to go to the back of the line. She claimed the child continued being disrespectful, so she planned to take the child to the front of the cafeteria. Graham said she may have raised her hand during the interaction, but did not recall hitting the child. LONGVIEW, Wash.— A Tennessee woman faces multiple criminal charges after police said she ran from officers along the Lewis and Clark Bridge, climbed onto a railing, and threw a container at them on Sept. 18. Longview police officers were called to the bridge after receiving reports of a woman standing on the railings. According to police, Crystal L. Griffin, 36, of Chattanooga, ran when officers arrived and climbed onto the bridge structure. Investigators said Griffin threatened officers as they tried to calm the situation, tried to hit them, and threw an open container that struck the officers. Seattle, WA - Seattle Police officers investigating a domestic violence incident in the 900 block of Golf Drive South were involved in an officer-involved shooting Friday afternoon. Police responded to an apartment building in the Beacon Hill neighborhood when a man called 911 around 8 AM to report a domestic violence assault. When police arrived at the scene, they spoke with a male who had sustained a laceration during the assault. The victim was evaluated by Seattle Fire and taken to the hospital via AMR for treatment. Patrol officers went to contact the suspect in an apartment; however, the suspect barricaded herself inside. Officers obtained a warrant from a judge to make entry into the apartment. At some point, one officer fired their weapon, striking and injuring the suspect. CHP noticed the car had an expired registration, and after running the license plate, the vehicle came back as stolen. The driver did not stop and led the police through multiple counties on the freeway, driving more than 80 MPH. While trying to exit the freeway, the driver lost control on the off-ramp, hit a car, then slid into the median and destroyed wooden traffic signs.
