Newport, RI - Newport police released officer bodycam footage of a deadly shootout on a stolen sailboat earlier this year. The suspect was shot and killed, and an officer was hurt. The harbormaster tipped off police when the boat sailed into Newport on Aug. 26. The bodycam footage and surveillance video shows officers speeding up to the vessel at about 9 a.m. "The harbormaster had observed the anchored vessel's name had been scraped from the stern, but the approximately 40-foot sailboat was a distinct model matching the reported stolen vessel," Police Chief Ryan Duffy said in a recorded briefing that included the video. Officers drew their guns as they closed in on the boat. Police say 27-year-old Brendan Norris had the boat's engine running and appeared to lift the anchor, before dipping below deck. Authorities said Norris fired the first shot, before police returned fire, shooting him in the head. Pueblo, Colorado — On October 10, 2026, at approximately 11:09 pm, Pueblo Police Communications Center received a call for a home invasion in the 1600 block of Gaylord Ave. While officers were responding, they were advised that the suspect, 36-year-old Luis Morales, had fled the scene in a Dodge Ram pickup truck after assaulting the occupants of the residence and threatening them with a gun. Officers contacted the victims at the residence; other officers canvassed the area and initiated a pursuit after locating the suspect vehicle at Jones Avenue and Brimmer Avenue. Morales abandoned his vehicle in the 0-100 block of Regency Boulevard and fled on foot, entering the Regency Park Apartments. Officers learned Morales was in an upstairs apartment and began knocking on the door, announcing themselves as police. Morales opened the door, and produced a firearm pointed toward officers. Officers discharged their weapons. Two officers were hit by gunfire; Officer Jonathon Woehler was shot in both legs, and Officer Justin Ortiz suffered a graze wound to the ankle. Officer Woehle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officer Ortiz was evaluated by AMR (American Medical Response) and was released with minor injuries. While rendering aid to the suspect, officers rolled the suspect onto his side which revealed a fully-loaded firearm underneath. One officer rendered aid until rescue arrived. Morales was pronounced deceased at the scene. A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal a fire hydrant in the Signal Hill area, a trend that authorities say is on the rise in Los Angeles County. Surveillance video captured the Oct. 23 incident and showed the man, using his parked car as a screen, appearing to use a wrench to unscrew the bolts at the base of the hydrant. Officers patrolling the area spotted the man as their SUV drove past the would-be hydrant thief’s vehicle, according to video released by police. The officers then contacted the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Jorge Beltran Carrillo of Los Angeles, and took him into custody without incident. The Military Police arrested a man who ran towards military police officers wielding a knife , this Wednesday (28), in Osasco, in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The 30-year-old suspect was arrested after throwing stones at a police car and advancing towards the officers . During the arrest, the police shot the man in the leg . In a statement, the SSP (Public Security Secretariat) stated that the police officers were conducting preventive patrols in the area when they encountered a man walking on the sidewalk, gesturing and talking to himself. When they approached him, they were attacked by the suspect . First, the man allegedly threw stones at the police car, and then tried to attack the officers with a knife. While the suspect was attempting to advance on the police, he reportedly shouted: "Shoot me." After being shot in the leg , the suspect received medical attention and was hospitalized under police guard. On October 27, 2026, at approximately 8:40 a.m., HCSO’s Real Time Crime Center alerted team HCSO deputies to a vehicle reported stolen by the Tampa Police Department, traveling northbound on N. 15th St. from E. 122nd Ave. Deputies quickly located the vehicle parked in a business complex at 1509 E. Fletcher Ave. With emergency lights activated, deputies attempted to box in the vehicle to apprehend the suspect. The driver, Jessica Johnson, 37, refused to comply with the command to stop. As she fled, Johnson nearly struck one of the responding deputies and struck a patrol vehicle. SEATTLE — Seattle police arrested a suspect accused of slashing a man with a machete at Hing Hay Park in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District on Tuesday. Meaghan, a park steward who witnessed the attack, said she and others were near the park’s pagoda and packing up for the day when they heard yelling. “When we ran over to see what had happened, there was a man lying on the ground, and we watched someone come with a machete and overhead swing multiple times onto him,” Meaghan said. She called the attack “very, very alarming and traumatizing.” Seattle Fire Department crews treated an approximately 48-year-old man in stable condition after what was reported as an assault with a weapon. The man was taken to a hospital by AMR. The man told police that he was walking through the park when he turned around to find the suspect slashing at him with the machete. The victim was hit on his back, causing a large laceration, then fell to the ground, where the suspect continued to attack him, according to SPD. It was initially reported that two people had been injured, but Seattle Fire Department crews treated only one patient. Meaghan said her first thought was: “Oh my God, we need to call 911 immediately.” She said people began fleeing the area, and she tried to get them away from the scene. Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect, a 44-year-old man, in an argument with one of the victims before the attack, police said. Real Time Crime Center Cameras recorded some footage of the attack, which showed the suspect chasing after the 48-year-old victim with the machete, according to police. The 31-year-old victim then attempted to stop the attack by shoving the suspect, who then turned the machete on him, police said. As the 48-year-old victim attempted to run away, the suspect struck him in the back with the machete, causing him to fall to the ground, while the suspect continued attacking him.
