Staff yelled at him to leave as he fled with it. Officers who were already in the parking lot investigating a vehicle fire gave chase. The suspect resisted, leading to a struggle on the ground in the street. A Lexus SUV then struck all three — the suspect and two officers. The shoplifter was killed. One officer was pinned under the car and both suffered leg injuries but are expected to recover. The driver stayed and is cooperating. Another wild theft on San Francisco streets ends in tragedy. The sheriff's office posted edited video of the arrest on its Facebook page as part of the department's "Riding Shotgun" segment. According to an arrest report, the incident happened last Tuesday, June 2, near Cocoa after deputies pulled over a car that James Corona, 27, was riding in. Court documents show Corona was wanted on a warrant for violating his probation, which he received as part of a sentence for a conviction last May of reckless driving involving alcohol. "Step out of the car, James, with your hands up, or you're going to get bit," the K-9 deputy could be overheard yelling at Corona in the video. "This is your last warning. Step out of the car, or you're gonna get dog bit. Come out to us with your hands up." The video appears to show Corona with his feet and arms out of the car right before the deputy released the K-9. As the video is edited, it's unclear how long deputies had been commanding Corona to exit the vehicle. WESH 2 reached out to the sheriff's office for clarification but had not yet received a response as of Wednesday evening. "I got out the car, and they released the dog on me as soon as I got out the car," Corona told WESH 2. "They said they were going to release the dog if I didn't cooperate, but, actually, I didn't understand because I was cooperating." James Smith, a former U.S. military police officer who now works as a criminal defense attorney, watched the video. He's not connected with the case. "I think what's troubling about the video is that you see a suspect whose feet are visible and whose hands are visible and despite that, the K-9 still attacks him," he said. "In this instance, you have an unarmed suspect. He doesn't have a weapon. He's not presenting any danger at all to anyone, and he appears to be complying at that point with the orders. So the use of a canine to me would appear to be excessive." Corona had to receive treatment at a hospital following his encounter with the K-9, according to his arrest report, before he was transported to the Brevard County Jail. "It was very painful. It still is very painful. The dog took a piece of my arm out," he said. Corona and his family believe the use of the K-9 was unjustified, as they claim he was complying with deputies' orders. They're considering legal action. "We're human beings. We're not animals. The dog is an animal. That's why you had to get him off my arm, because he was attacking me," Corona said. "I just want reform. I want them to do better, to listen to people more." In addition to the violation of probation charge, Corona was also charged with resisting arrest without violence in this latest incident.

You're going to jail. Police say the Street Racing Task Force responded to the gathering Sunday evening and found more than 100 vehicles inside the river channel. This operation, ‘Operation Bad Habits’ resulted in the arrests of 52 individuals. Detectives posing online as children, ranging in ages from 7 to 15 years old, were solicited by these predators who ultimately arranged to meet what they thought was a child for sex. Arrested in this operation were legal and illegal immigrants, fathers, coaches, teachers and even a high school student. Several of these predators were also charged with human trafficking as they were trying to “purchase” these children for sex. The following agencies assisted in this operation: Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Ocala Police Department, Lake City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, US Marshal’s Service, Homeland Security, the FBI, Florida Sheriff’s Association, Office of the State Attorney Fifth Judicial Circuit and the US Attorney’s Office Middle District of Florida. Sheriff Woods said, “Once again, the amazing teamwork and determination among all these agencies involved are sending a clear message to child sex predators that Florida has no tolerance for this and we will continue to do everything we can to protect these children.”

UK: Two men who played key roles in a major international money laundering network have been sentenced

During the investigation, the Serious Organised Crime Team, a joint City of London Police and National Crime Agency partnership, seized over £2.5m in cash and gold. On Monday, MSHP released bodycam footage of a police chase that took place in early May. In the video, multiple bullet holes can be seen piercing the side of MSHP Corporal Brandon Harris’ patrol vehicle. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call just after 1:15 p.m. on May 7, in the area of North Douglas Drive in Columbia, Missouri, from a woman who’d claimed that both her and her son had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located a 65-year-old woman who was severely injured as well as her 35-year-old son who was pronounced dead at the scene. After receiving a description of the suspect, later identified as Steven Swanson, and the car he left the scene in, a Boone County deputy spotted the suspect traveling westbound on Mexico Gravel Road towards Woodard Drive. The sheriff’s office, along with the assistance of MSHP troopers and officers with the Columbia Police Department, began pursuing the suspect vehicle on U.S. Highway 63, according to the sheriff’s office. During the pursuit, Swanson fired multiple rounds at Corporal Harris’ patrol vehicle. Corporal Harris and other law enforcement were unharmed during the shooting, according to police reports. Law enforcement used deflation devices to flatten the tires of Swanson’s vehicle before Corporal Harris performed a “Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI).” Swanson lost control of the car before it came to a stop in a ditch off the side of the highway. Troopers approached the vehicle and were able to gain entry where they found Swanson inside, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police reports. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the assault of the 65-year-old woman and killing of her son.

Suspect, officer shot in gun battle after LAPD pursuit in Boyle Heights

A police officer and a suspect were shot after a pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle ended in gunfire in Boyle Heights Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Both the suspect and officer were transported to the hospital in unknown condition. The suspect took off running after the pickup truck crashed following a chase, and that’s when officers reportedly opened fire, hitting and injuring the suspect. Sky5’s Gil Leyvas was over the termination of the chase at 1173 S Marietta St. at approximately 2:15 p.m., where the man could be seen lying on the ground, moving, before officers moved in and took the man into custody. The suspect was loaded into an ambulance and was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. A gun was found nearby at the scene. The LAPD confirmed that an officer was struck in the gunfire and taken to a local hospital. There’s no word on his condition, but he was seen walking around and talking at the scene before he was transported. Authorities were reportedly examining his bullet-proof vest at the scene. LAPD cruisers were seen with bullet holes following the exchange of gunfire. An investigation into the officer-involved shooting is underway, and the intersection is expected to be shut down for a while.

Theft Suspect From Somalia Arrested In Minnesota

"Suspect was seen by bystanders and Kwik Trip employees going through employee & customer cars parked off in non-pump parking spots.
