HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An armed man is dead after he was shot by police in southwest Houston on Wednesday, according to authorities.

The Houston Police Department said officers responded to an apartment complex on West Bellfort Avenue at about 11:18 a.m. after getting reports of a man who was "displaying a knife in a threatening manner."

Adrian Rodriguez with HPD said the call was made from the front lobby of the complex, reporting that the man was in the parking lot "making a jabbing motion in the air with a butcher knife."

MIDTOWN EAST, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police shot and killed a machete-wielding man on a subway platform at Grand Central Terminal on Saturday morning after he stabbed three people, according to the NYPD.

The deadly police-involved shooting happened around 9:30 a.m.

Police say Anthony Griffin, 44, boarded a 7 train at Vernon Boulevard and arrived a short time later at Grand Central. It was there where he stabbed an 84-year-old man on the No. 7 train platform before he moved upstairs to the No. 4, 5 and 6 train platform and slashed two more victims, police said.

Two NYPD detectives working an overtime transit detail encountered one of the victims walking up the steps as they responded. The detectives later encountered Griffin, who had a knife.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Las Cruces police held a press conference on Wednesday regarding last week's deadly officer-involved shooting.

Police identified the man who died as 45-year-old David Gallegos Jr.

The shooting happened during a narcotics investigation near East Lohman Avenue around 2 p.m.

Preliminary information from the investigation indicates that two Metro Narcotics agents – commissioned law enforcement officers – were surveilling Gallegos who was suspected of possessing and selling large quantities of methamphetamine, police officials said.

The agents had credible information that Gallegos was in possession of narcotics at the time of the incident, officials said during the press conference.

The Metropolitan Police has released footage from the body-worn cameras of two responding officers who detained the man suspected of stabbing two people in Golders Green, north London. The clip appears to show the suspect walking towards the officers before the Taser was deployed. Officers can be heard yelling "drop the knife" repeatedly before the suspect falls to the ground. They continue to repeat the instruction while the suspect is on the ground and as they work to restrain him. Speaking to the press on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley paid tribute to the officers "who were on the scene within a few minutes and whose actions undoubtedly prevented further injury and saved lives".

Omak, WA - The Omak Police Department (OPD) reported officers arrested a man after a stabbing and two attempted vehicle takeovers near Burger King along Riverside Drive in Omak. OPD dispatch received the call at about 1:52 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026. Investigators said 27-year-old Dwight Belgarde slashed a 61-year-old man who was walking to Burger King. The victim did not know Belgarde and had no contact with him before the attack. The man suffered a deep cut about five inches long from below the ear to the chin, the release said. The injured man ran to Burger King, where employees and patrons gave first aid and called 911. Police said Officer Paul Ebreo arrived at 1:55 p.m. and saw Belgarde trying to stab or take a vehicle from a 21-year-old man. Ebreo ordered him to drop the knife and tried to detain him. Belgarde dropped the knife, then got up and moved toward Ebreo. Police said Ebreo used his Taser twice without immediate effect and continued chasing him through heavy traffic. Belgarde then entered another running vehicle at Arby’s that was occupied by a 27-year-old woman who was preparing to leave. According to police, the driver moved to the passenger side and removed the keys before Ebreo pulled Belgarde from the vehicle and detained him at 1:56 p.m.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) is releasing video after the Bradley Police Department requested ISP to conduct an independent investigation of an officer involved shooting. On April 8, 2026, at approximately 12:46 p.m., Bradley Police Department officers conducted a well-being check in the 600 block of Jonette Avenue in Bradley, IL for a man making suicidal statements. On arrival, officers encountered 34-year-old Jose Orozco of Bradley armed with a box cutter. Officers attempted to talk with Orozco when he started advancing on them. Orozco disobeyed officers’ orders to stop and the officers discharged their weapons, striking Orozco. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived on scene. Orozco was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. In accordance with ISP’s commitment to integrity and public transparency, the video of the event is being made available to the public. This video is being released after consultation with the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office. ISP provided Orozco’s family the opportunity to review the video before its release to the public. After a thorough investigation, ISP will turn the case over to the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The investigation is active and ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
