A U.S. Coast Guard crew stopped not one, but three suspected drug-smuggling boats in a single operation off the coast of Colombia last week — a move officials say kept tens of millions of dollars’ worth of cocaine from ever reaching the United States. The crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma intercepted the vessels on May 8, roughly 90 miles from Cartagena. Altogether, authorities say the smugglers were transporting about 6,085 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of nearly $45.8 million. Coast Guard officials put the impact in stark terms: that amount of cocaine represents roughly 2.3 million potentially deadly doses that will now never make it to American communities. The takedown unfolded quickly, with the Tahoma deploying two small boats along with a helicopter crew trained specifically for drug interdictions. Working in coordination, the teams said they were able to close in on all three vessels at once — something Coast Guard leaders say is no small feat.

According to the publication, the incident occurred at kilometer 240+000 between La Estancia and Cesilio Terán , in the area known as Cumbres de Maltrata on the Esperanza - Ciudad Mendoza highway section. The recording shows how several subjects with high-powered laser devices position themselves on the asphalt road at a curve to force the heavy vehicle to stop. However, the truck driver did not stop at an alleged attempted robbery and apparently ran over at least one person identified as a possible criminal, who died between the wheels of the truck. If you ever wondered what would happen if the Mystery Machine went off the rails … meet the “Methtery Machine”: a rented U-Haul truck that ran a red light on April 28th that we pulled over at the Palm Coast Walmart parking lot on Tuesday. Up front: Jerome “Seat-Swap Specialist” Hurst, 25, of Palm Coast, who tried the classic “I’m not the driver, I’m getting out from the passenger side” with deputies. Also up front: Jessica “Red Straw” Bontempo, 38, of Palm Coast. Then K-9 Lola “The Nose Knows” conducted a sniff of the truck and alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Investigators located a red straw with residue tucked near the passenger seatbelt buckle that tested positive for fentanyl. A search also located a hollowed-out pen with residue concealed in “Red Straw’s” bra that tested positive for methamphetamine. When detectives opened the cargo area of the “Methtery Machine”, they found two more passengers hiding in the back: Josiah “Hide-and-Seek Champion” Feimster, 23, and Bridgett “Tin Foil” Dubena, 23, both of Palm Coast. Inside the cargo area, investigators located multiple items of drug paraphernalia, including burnt tin foil, cut straws with drug residue, and clear plastic baggies with residue. Detectives also located a rock-like substance inside folded tin foil that tested positive for methamphetamine. Detectives arrested Bontempo for possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Detectives arrested Feimster and Dubena for possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting without violence. Detectives arrested Hurst for driving while license suspended. All four were transported to the Green Roof Inn. Every episode needs a surprise guest star: April “The Halo” Hamilton, 42, of Palm Coast, arrived during the investigation and was warned multiple times to stay at least 25 feet away. After continuing to approach deputies ignoring warnings, she was arrested for approaching a first responder with specified intent after a warning under Florida’s new “Halo Law.” “They would’ve gotten away with it, if it weren’t for those meddling FCSO detectives and their dog, too,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you drive around Flagler County in a rented meth mobile, don’t expect to make your destination; expect blue lights and a detour to the Green Roof Inn.”
