MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Police are searching for a driver who fled after a vehicle struck a Middletown home early Friday, causing a gas leak and fire that destroyed the house. The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. on Roosevelt Boulevard. Middletown police body camera video captured an explosion at the scene. Assistant Chief Steve Ludwig said the vehicle hit the home, damaging a gas line and sparking the fire about 30 minutes later. The driver left before officers arrived, while a passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not immediately known. Three adults inside the home escaped safely Firefighters waited for Duke Energy to shut off gas and electric service before attacking the fire. A student at a high school in Los Angeles died Wednesday after falling from the fourth story of a campus building following an altercation inside a classroom, leaving students, their families and school staff shaken. The incident was reported just before 1 p.m. at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park as some students were breaking for lunch. The student, identified by classmates as a senior, fell into the school’s quad and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Los Angeles Police Department investigators are conducting a death investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall. Video circulating online appears to show some of the moments leading up to the incident. In the footage, two students can be seen fighting inside a classroom as a teacher attempts to intervene. One of the students is knocked to the floor before crawling out of the classroom. HONG KONG: Newly surfaced dashcam footage shows four passengers taking control of a taxi in Cheung Sha Wan after the driver collapsed at the wheel, bringing the vehicle to a halt against a concrete roadside barrier. The incident occurred at about noon on September 28 as the taxi was travelling eastbound along Ching Cheung Road towards Kwun Tong near Nob Hill Square. Police said the 66-year-old driver lost consciousness while driving, leaving the vehicle unguided and causing it to veer from side to side for around half a minute. Video footage shows the driver wearing sunglasses with his head slumped forward, completely unresponsive. As the taxi began to drift, the front male passenger patted the driver’s arm while a female passenger repeatedly tapped his face in an effort to wake him. When the driver failed to respond, the front passenger grabbed the steering wheel to guide the vehicle. Meanwhile, a female passenger in the backseat leaned forward to pull the emergency brake. The startled passengers managed to maneuver the vehicle as it scraped along the right-hand roadside barrier before coming to a stop with a blown-out front-right tire. The four occupants then exited the car to seek assistance. None of the passengers were injured, and police officers later helped them hail another cab to continue their trip. A teenage boy has been charged and another is still on the run after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Ashtonfield. Police were called to a home on South Seas Drive at around 5:30am Tuesday 29 September to reports an allegedly stolen Mercedes sedan had crashed into a parked car after becoming airborne. A shocking video shows the car clip a brick mail box and flip across the front lawn of the home and land directly onto their ute. A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to the John Hunter Hospital under police guard. During a search of the sedan, officers located and seized a mobile phone and balaclava. The vehicle as towed for forensic examination. The teenager was later charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 19 October 2026. According to initial reports, the accident occurred on the Ajoloapan-Pachuca section of the highway, between kilometers 115 and 117. The emergency stemmed from a series of previous incidents, including a rear-end collision and a pickup truck rollover, which complicated traffic conditions in the area. In that context, a crane operator was unable to stop the unit in time, lost control, and crashed into the guardrails. After the impact, the vehicle caught fire, creating a high-risk situation for motorists and personnel in the area. The accident resulted in a multi-vehicle pileup involving several cars, including a pickup truck and a livestock trailer. Authorities reported a total of nine vehicles involved. HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa.— A group of Hollidaysburg high school students intervened to safely stop their school bus after the driver suffered a medical event behind the wheel. The students remained calm and worked as a team when the vehicle began drifting during an after-school ride. The students utilized health and medical science training learned at school to carry out critical safety steps. Sophomore Jenna Anderson called 911 to report the emergency. Senior Skyla Horton engaged the parking brake and opened the doors, while senior Travis Zerby used the bus radio to request assistance. Sophomore Alexis Smith rushed to the front of the bus, applied the foot brake, and checked the driver’s pulse. Smith was initially distracted before a classmate alerted her to the emergency. “I didn’t realize at first I was on my phone texting, and then my best friend pulled me out of my seat, will push me out of my seat and was like, ‘Get the bus driver’,” Smith said. “I think if it was one of us. We would be in a struggle because I had my foot on the brake.” Managing the bus while responding to instructions over the radio created additional challenges during the incident. “That right there alone is hard,” Smith said. “And he (Zerby) was telling me to say certain letters, and I didn’t know what the heck that meant. So I was like, I don’t know.” The driver has since recovered, received medical clearance to drive and returned to his regular route.
